Memorial Day. Memorial.

Summer time rules. Bikerides, sitting outside and my friend's tattoo shop's two year anniversary party.

5-29-2010

Breakfast, "doing hoodrat stuff with my friends," then back on the highway in a different car to get to the first cookout party of my summer. Then fancy drinks and running around on West 14th with Brandon for the first time since '05.

5-28-2010

I've been spending my Friday evenings on the highway recently. Luckly it was with Barbara and Tony (the best iPod DJ for roadtrips). We stopped at a comic book store with 3d comic books.

A few hours later, we were in another city for Danny's (toga) birthday party.

Creepy.

...what you don't do this too?

Nicole is going to start a rap career talking about how much vintage Pentax she got on her neck and wrist.

We finally got our bikes out again and rode them to the park to go foraging. We looked for wild garlic and ramps which grow naturally in the woods out here. If a mommy onion and a daddy garlic loved each other very much and had a romatic grownup night together, they would make a little baby ramp.

Speaking of babies, while we were at the park we saw a painted turtle laying its eggs. Then Nicole made a "stuff we found growing in the woods" dinner with the things we harvested tonight and some morel mushrooms.

Finally, to the people who didn't end up on this site by accident and know of our ongoing skunk saga, we had out first definite skunk sighting tonight. If anyone has any ideas what to do if we see this bastard again, let me know. I wish I had a gun instead of a camera tonight...

5-23-2010

I got to spend the day with friends I already miss while Nicole had fun taking pictures. I probably won't see Brandon for another three years.

On the way back home, we frantically rushed back to Nicole's favoite winery before it closed for the night. She almost cried when we got there and the door was locked (even though we made it in their posted hours), but I managed to get someone in the kitchen to let us in and sell us wine. Nicole was pretty happy about that.

5-22-2010

I got my nails done after breakfast with the big homie. Then hung out under a bridge in a hardcore downpour with Ben and Paul. Then I left my camera at home for the party at night, but I think that was a better choice for everyone.

5-21-2010

So the thing I've spent the last week cutting paper/gluing things to is a skateboard that's in an art show at my friend's skate shop (this was not a squid/octopus themed show, it just happened that way). So I took the day off to pack up and get ready before Nicole got off work. When I'm home alone I eat like a vegetarian eight year old.

As soon as we got there, I saw the flyers I designed for the two events this weekend. Having commercials you made on TV is pretty much nothing compared to being up on a skate shop corkboard. Then I saw my friend Brandon who I hadn't seen in almost three years.

I've already written enough blogs about how much I love Melt, but since I have their logo tattooed on me (25% off for life!) I got to go to the soft open/get a free meal at their new second location tonight. It was fun, but we weren't the only people having fun tonight.

This is Nicole having a lot less fun grinding her teeth down with a nail file. After having a "perminant" bottom retainer for over ten years, it decided to break off and leave chunks of glue on the inside of her teeth.

...almost done.

My sister and her husband came to town tonight, so you get to look at pictures of people looking at pictures of people.

Compare and contrast...there might be a baby growing in your ankle too, Tiff.

This is Nicole's Cavs game face.

Poor little dead guy outside of the restaurant at lunch today. I hope it wasn't the food that got him.

5-11-2010

I was at work late babysitting renders, so I took mugshots of myself to stay entertained (this is actually kind of hard to do with no tripod/autofocus/shutter release). This is the only picture that wasn't blurry.

I'll be working on this every night after work for the next two weeks. My neck already hurts.

Early mothers day dinner with my mother.

5-7-2010

Nicole was pretty excited to go to a restaurant we hadn't been to before (guided by Food Network). Then we went to the BFA closing reception at my college. Nicole was pretty excited about that too.

Stuff.

...because a sign is much cheaper than actually fixing anything. This is my tax money hard at work.

Also, I left my camera at home tonight when we went to go look for morels. Of course, we find something crazy and only have a cellphone camera.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! I hope everyone is having as much fun as she is!

I try not to be too much of an equiptment nerd, but I realized today that I never posted anything about the camera I've been shooting almost all of my film shots with. Here's my Olympus OM-1n...my current favorite camera. It has tons of scratches, missing paint, brassing, and dust in the lens, but since it's so beat up externally it was really cheap. I bough it on impulse and immediately experienced buyers remorse...until I started using it. It's so small, light, easy and fun to use, I wish film was free like digital so I could shoot it every day.

Here are some more shots I took with it of stores in New York.

Nicole and I collect photobooth pictures of us being weird in various places.

5-2-2010

I really can't verbalize how amazing Chinese breakfast is (specifically the type of soup buns pictured above). Real deal, authentic cooks making steaming food magic.

So yeah, breakfast with my family before leaving the city and spending the rest of the day on the highway. I saw things like this and this.

5-1-2010

Today I saw my pregnant sister for the first time since she started growing something inside of her.

We went to the 18th floor of a super fancy hotel in Manhattan to see my cousin get married.

The nigh ended at Gray's Papaya for us. Other people kept the party going at other places.
