Every year, Spotted
Salamanders come out of hibernation and instinctively return to spawn in the same vernal pools they were born in. Since our house is down the street from these pools, we've been going to see them this time every year since moving in. During this season, other kinds of salamanders (that move too quickly to have their pictures taken) and lots of different
frogs also come out of hibernation.
Also, our yard's reputation for having the best skunk bait in the neighborhood is quickly spreading among
raccoons. Little do they know that Nicole and I are really
fameous doctors on TV. (That picture really gets jpeg-ed by Picasa, look at
this too.)
