Unexpected Leap Day party fun. I ate good food and drank things that tasted like liquid popsicles with some of my favorite people. Four more years until the next one.

Nicole has been my girlfriend for nine years today. Totally unrelated, this little guy reminds me of Wall-E.

I can guarantee without a doubt that I am the scrawniest and most out of place person ever to enter this building. Including girlfriends that were just here to watch their muscle dudes pick things up repeatedly. Even they have better sense than to wear French designer clothing and shoes with purple laces into a place like this.

So after breaking her foot in half and not running for the past month and a half, Nicole is back outside tearing up the neighborhood in crazy shoes.

I'm not sure that I really "get" spas. I don't think I would want people to stick tissues between my toes and gift wrap my feet like presents, but Nicole seems to like it pretty well.

This can sprays nature. We like nature and are glad that it's almost warm enough to spend days wandering around trees in the woods. Almost. We saw a giant owl, but I didn't get a picture. I did however get a slightly blurry picture of this giant pileated woodpecker. Maybe I'll do better next time when I'm not shivering.

I've written on here before about how I'm a sucker for fast food advertising on television. Last time I was enticed by the harpies of Sonic, and was horribly disappointed by the outcome. Well despite the failure of my past TV motivated endeavors, I've been seeing yet another commercial for a different fast food franchise which persuaded me to seek out and patronize their nearest local establishment. I had to seek out the nearest two establishments actually, because said special is so popular that the first location sold out entirely. However, fully determined to obtain the glory I saw on television, I boldly ignored my "you probably shouldn't bee in this hood" suspicions and ventured to places my parents probably wouldn't want me to go by myself...especially not just to buy chicken. But look! The chicken comes with spicy fries! And a biscuit! And a tiny little miniature bottle of Tabasco sauce! All this for only $3.99. I would probably pay that much just for the midget bottle alone.
In truth, the chicken wasn't that great. But I would do this all again in a heartbeat if they were to advertise other Micro Machine scaled condiment bottles on television. 1/8 fluid ounces of liquid happiness.
I kind of randomly had a really fun night playing pinball with a bunch of friends I didn't expect to see. I didn't camera-harass my friends, but I took a bunch of pictures of the machine because I think it looks cool. It was really hard to get the timing on these shots too so I'm posting them.

I typically avoid cropping my pictures whenever possible, but since my camera's autofocus totally ruined the shot I really wanted, I'm doing it this time.

Nothing's quite as romantic as a Saint Valentine's Day heart attack. Really though, I'm incredibly happy to be in the type of relationship where ingesting a doughnut bacon cheeseburger is an acceptable form of holiday celebration.

This burrito has noodles in it. It's like the visual representation of me being Asian but obsessed with eating Mexican food...but some how confused. Speaking of noodles, the mushroom plant we've been growing grew mushrooms. To celebrate this occasion, we got real, quality ingredients like heavy cream, fresh pasta, and cheese that's older than Baby Lily and followed recipes from Nicole's phone. I helped to make this Shiitake Fettuccine Alfredo from scratch. Fat kids.

I really enjoy wearing my 99¢ fingerless gloves that make me look homeless. I like them so much that I even sewed the thumb back together after they made a hole. Since there was really nice sunlight coming into my window today, I figured I would take tricky no-handed pictures of them before they fell apart any more.

This is a picture of the magical wonderland of my office. Here's a picture of my cat Sienna when she heard birds chirping outside. I think she's happy about this winter-springtime-hybrid we're having, though she might end up with some birdie popsicles any day now. And here's a picture of Mushroom.

I'm still saying that I'm not a super competitive person, and that I like running for a lot more reasons than just beating people. But it would be lying to say that I didn't smile at least a little bit when I saw a YouTube video with this picture of me about to pass this lady. I remember working really hard to kick past her in the last stretch, and I don't care if she's a girl and way older than me...that wasn't easy and I'm glad it's on the internet forever now. Besides, I'm not smiling as big as the race director was when we posed for a picture together.

So we're still in Detroit, and I'm pretty sure I like it here. Whenever I'm in a different city, I always try to eat the local, regional foods the area is known for. Detroit is know for food that looks like this. I wasn't too sure I wanted to eat it, but it was better than it looks, and I ended up liking it. I guess you can't really judge these things visually, because my friend Barb always looks good, but I would never eat her. I actually really like how Detroit looks. I think it's pretty much required to take pictures of the graffiti, prevalent urban blight, and this building that was in Transformers if you come here. I understand it though, because it's all fun to look at like a safari for post-apocalyptic party time. Speaking of party time, we spent the rest of the day watching people color. Nicole and Nicole were enthralled and couldn't look away the whole time. I honestly was pretty enthralled by this little worried guy.

Sometimes the combinations of things that I participate in is strange to even me. This weekend definitely makes me question what exactly I'm doing with my life. Here's a quick run down.
I woke up before the sun to hang out with people who like to wear spandex and neon colors and shorts in the snow with my friends. I look really serious in this picture. This picture is less serious, but it means our fireplace has a new present for the mantle and that's serious.
Then we rode in the car for hours to see friends and watch this double glowing yo-yo guy. I don't really take tons of pictures at gallery openings, especially when the artist is so hostile.
And then this is for the trunk full of this to take to the house party which leads to me doing things like the picture above at the hotel...and this is just day #1 of our Detroit adventure.

Are you wondering why my mom is messing around with her hair? It's because she doesn't want to look like this wig-headed looking woman wearing sunglasses while driving at night on her birthday. Happy birthday, Mom.

I'm not quite sure how boiling water will turn something that looks like this into something delicious that I will want to eat, but nature is weird so just go with it.
